Bimala Shrestha’s husband died in an accident. The family owns a small parcel of land to harvest rice and vegetables for its own consumption. To meet its food needs, it rented additional land. The family’s house was no longer inhabitable after the earthquake. When we first visited, the family was living in an uninhabitable house that was in danger of collapsing.
In 2015, we began the process of constructing an emergency shelter for the family. At the end of 2018, the six-person family was able to move into a new home, which was financed, in part, by the Tara Namaste Foundation. We also support the family’s four children.
